Categorisation is performed automatically using AI and PDF text extraction. Both can produce errors, omissions or misclassifications. All outputs must be independently verified by a qualified professional before being submitted to a lender or used in a mortgage application. ClearStatement accepts no liability for errors in categorisation or parsing.
This tool is intended for use by FCA authorised mortgage intermediaries. Users remain solely responsible for compliance with FCA rules, Consumer Duty obligations, and their firm's own policies. ClearStatement does not constitute regulated advice and does not replace the professional judgement of the adviser.
Bank statements contain personal financial data. Only upload statements where you have a lawful basis to process the data. Ensure your firm's privacy policy covers AI-assisted statement analysis. Delete downloaded files when no longer required under your firm's retention policy. Transaction descriptions may be sent to Anthropic's API if AI categorisation is used — a Data Processing Agreement with Anthropic is incorporated into their Commercial Terms of Service.
This tool cannot read scanned or image-only PDFs (statements where the text is a photograph rather than selectable text). If a PDF cannot be parsed, outputs will be incomplete or absent. Always verify the transaction count matches the original statement before relying on any totals.

Files uploaded to this tool are processed locally in your browser and are not stored on any server. However, downloaded exports (Excel, PDF) contain personal data and must be handled in accordance with your firm's data retention policy and UK GDPR obligations. Do not retain client statement exports longer than necessary.
